Very nice game, congrats! smile.gif

Luigi, "Pretty nice 35 mins game. I was going club/AR semi FF while he pike rushes me. He kills my huts but loses his army and we both go age3. I know he is making cav but still go in with my wakina army.. I lose a bit too much and retreat and decide to boom since he has walls+cannons. Ends with a big fight in industrial smile.gif

Enjoy!

REPLAY REVIEW BY DanaEileithyia - 04/08/2007
---------------------------------

Match Overview
Tama_Ogawa went for a Pikeman and Skirmisher rush while Luigi used a Warclub and Axe Rider semi-FF. T_O is able to destroy both the Warhuts of Luigi, however he loses his army, and both players went to Fortress. T_O start playing defensive and went for a Hussar and Ruyter army while Luigi started to spam Wakina Rifles with shipment support. At first the attack seemed to work out well, however the cavalry did do a bit more damage then expected and the Colonial Militia forced Luigi to retreat. Both players start slowly with booming now and they both reach Industrial. The game ends with a big battle.

It was a nice idea to hide your Barrack in the corner of the map. Luigi did only scout your Stable and didn't expect to be attacked by Pikemans and Skirmishers. You was able to take out both his Warhuts, however you lost your army. You went to Fortress and start making Hussars with some Ruyters, which countered Luigi's army well. The only problem with your unit choose was, that you had placed a lot of structures around your Town Center, which gave your cavalry a lot of pathfinding issues. Fortunately you was able to survive Luigi's attack and you started to use the structures to your advance. By adding some walls and Falconets your base was easy to defend. When you knew that your base was good enough protected you started to improve your economy. You build more banks and started a boat boom and went to the Industrial age. In the end the final battle came and you lost your whole army. You shouldn't have attacked Luigi's army, you should have waited till he was by your base. Your base was made for defending and causing pathfinding issues. You lost all your Falconets unnecessary, in your base they would have been better protected. Besides this you should always protect your Falconets with anti-calvalry. Always keep the anti-calvalry close to your Falconets. Your micro and the the decision to attack Luigi's army outside your base, lost you this game.
    Tips for Improvement
  • Try to play less careless in Colonial, most of the time you had 2 or 3 idle villagers.
  • When you attacked Luigi's base in Colonial and had already killed most of his army. You had 12 Pikemans left and still Luigi was able to attack your Skirmishers with a few Axe Riders. It's a good idea to divide your Pikemans in 2 groups one who is running behind horses or sieging at the left side of the Skirmishers and one who stays by the Skirmishers or sieges building at the right side or your Skirmishers.
  • You started your boat boom before you had send Schooner. It would have been better if you had waited for that shipment and built mills and banks first. This would have saved you 740 wood.
  • If cavalry attacks your Falconets, don't walk further towards them and shoot at them but let them walk away. The cavalry has to follow the Falconets which slows them down and gives you more time to kill the cavalry. If the cavalry is far away then shoot at the cavalry at the moment the cavalry reached your Falconets this is the best thing to do.

The game started well for you. You was able to safe a Surgeon and you killed T_O's Envoy. The Colonial age wasn't your age and you lost both your War Huts, fortunately T_O lost his army and you was able to reach Fortress. In Fortress you started a Wakina Rifle spam with Shipment support. You made use of the Fire Pit to get some more shipments fast. You knew that T_O had Hussars however you decided to attack him anyway without adding anti-cavalry. If you had added some anti-cavalry you would have been able to do a lot more damage. T_O was able to stop your attack and after a while you start a three Town Center with 40% Fertility Dance boom and went to Industrial. Your Industrial army contained a lot of different units and because of good micro you was able to kill five Falconets without much damage towards yourself. You won the battle and with that the game.
    Tips for Improvement
  • Always add some anti-cavalry if you are dealing with a lot of Hussars.
  • Keep scouting. Left from T_O's base 10 villagers were gathering gold without any protection.
  • You saved a Surgeon, however 15 minutes after you attacked T_O a lot of units still were injured. You should have used the Surgeon to heal the retreated units.
  • You never took the Klamath Trade Post. The Klamath Work Ethos upgrade which raises the villagers gather rate for all resources with 5% would have been a nice addition for your economy. Besides this are the natives extra military late game because they don't add up by the population count.
