The folks over at
PC Gamer have reported that
SEGA are currently offering all owners of the original boxed copies of
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War free
Steam keys. This means that if you have damaged your original disc and it has become unreadable, you would now be able to obtain a digital copy of it for no extra cost. You would also get the chance to add a storied game to you Steam library as well.
Take note however that SEGA might require to provide proof of your ownership of your original physical copy of
Dawn of War and this may include various ways, as noted from the PC Gamer article excerpted below:
To get your free key, just head over to the Sega support site and fill in the requisite blanks. It's not unlike the process for getting the free upgrade to the recent remasterings of BioShock, and as with that, you might have to prove that you are in fact a duly entitled owner of the game. "Please note that Sega may need to verify your boxed copies and this may involve them requesting photos of your box or other information," the Dawn of War forum post says.

Now would be a good time to take advantage of this offer and play the classic Dawn of War again before the latest installment of the franchise,
Dawn of War 3, is released sometime next year!
