Description
As the pride of the Terran fleet, Battle Cruisers inspire fear and awe with their sheer bulk, armor, and heavy firepower. Acting as the heavy aerial assault units for the Terran, Battle Cruisers make a return from Starcraft: Broodwar to continue their domination of the skies. The Battle Cruiser is expectedly slow and cumbersome, but it more than makes up for that weakness with fearsome weaponry and staying power. A fleet of Cruisers is definitely a match for almost any force the opponent can come up with, provided you have the economy to support such a fleet.
From available footage, we can see that Battle Cruisers are very much like their Starcraft: Broodwar counterparts, firing heavily damaging laser batteries that can quickly dispatch lightly armored targets such as the Protoss Phoenix. However, the formidable Protoss air arsenal has its answers in the form of the Warp Ray, which excel against heavily armored targets with their intensifying shots, or the mighty Mothership which was shown to destroy an entire fleet with a single casting of its Black Hole ability.
Nonetheless, the Battle Cruisers remain a mighty force to be reckoned with on the field of battle. We can see from gaming footage that Battle Cruisers have retained their trademark ability, the awe-inspiring Yamato Cannon that fires a single heavy-duty shot that deals enough damage to destroy nearly every unit in two hits, often one. On top of the Yamato Cannon they have gained a Plasma Injection. This inflicts massive amounts of damage to an area of ground units.
Combined with heavy armor and impressive general combat capabilities, we can be certain that Battle Cruisers will remain a staple of the Terran fleets.
