Description
Taking over the classic Science Vessel's duties as the explorer and reconnaissance unit is the Terran Nomad, a floating explorer craft with capabilities very similar to the classic Vessel. Still functioning as the detector unit, the Nomad will be found leading Terran ground forces in spotting enemy stealth ambushes and engaging infiltrated forces. Upgrades will allow the Nomad the use of the Defensive Matrix and EMP abilities, much like the Vessels of old. While EMP is likely to function just like it did in Starcraft: Brood War by neutralizing all plasma shields and draining the energy of units caught in the blast, the Defensive Matrix ability has been reworked to target an area and give all units in that location a defensive bonus.
A new ability added to the Nomad is the ability to function as a powerful mobile repair station. Built into all Nomads upon production, a Nomad can use its Nano-Repair ability to restore up to 200 hit points for any friendly mechanical unit, at the cost of energy. Combined with the Terran floating Starbase (a Starport upgrade) which has the ability to restore energy, a Nomad force carrying out repair duties would make a Terran army that much harder to break.
