About Cyber Nations

Cyber Nations is an online simulation game which is completely free and you don’t have to download anything, it is ran completely through the Cyber Nations website, your goal is to create a Nation which you will run the way you want to, and make all the decisions regarding your nation, like choosing the Government Type, Religion and much more. You can also buy Improvements and Military for your Nation which I will go into more detail about later in this guide, first here is an Index to help you navigate through the guide.

Getting Started

Registration
To get started simply visit the Cyber Nations Website and click Register, The first thing you should be asked is to pick a User Name, your User Name is very important make sure its something that you will remember as you will need it to Login to Cyber Nations.

Next your E-mail Address, make sure you use a real email address that you can check mail for as your password will be sent to you in an E-Mail after your Registration has been completed.

And finally the Terms & Conditions, this is quite a standard form, the important thing to notice in this form is that your agreeing to only create one Nation with your Login. you can delete your Nation if you have to and create a new one but you are not allowed to have multiple Nations. After you have read the Terms & Conditions tick the box saying you Agree to them and click Continue

Login
After you have completed your Registration an E-mail will be sent to you containing your Email and Password along with a link for you to sign in and validate your account. After you have validated your account you should be able to Login and change your password to something easier to remember.

Create My Nation
Now that you’ve successfully registered on Cyber Nations and validated your account its time to create your Nation, these are the kind of questions you will have to answer when creating your nation

Nations Name, your Nations name cannot be changed so pick one wisely and try not to be stupid with it. It is important that you remember your Nations Name as you will need it if you plan to join an alliance.

Capital City: then name of your nations capital isn’t really important it can be whatever you want and you shouldn’t need to remember it. again try to be sensible with it.

Nation Team: Nation Teams are open to everyone, Teams are based on colours, the current Teams are Red, Green, Brown, Blue, Purple, Orange, Maroon, Black, Yellow, Pink or if you want you can select None . Choosing a Nation Team (or colour) does NOT make you apart of an Alliance.

Currency Type: Its probably best that you choose a currency you are familiar with, most money transactions are based on Pounds (£) and Dollars ($)

Tax Rate: I would personally recommend keeping your Tax Rate at around 15% or16% max for your first week or 2 on Cyber Nations (if you push your Tax Rate to high to soon your Nation may go into Anarchy and cause your citizens to dislike you)

Government Type: your Government Type can be whatever you want whether its Democracy, Communist, Dictatorship, Republic, etc, etc however I would advise you try to pick a Government Type that pleases your Citizens they will appreciate you more for it.

Primary ethnic Group: your Ethnic Group can be whatever you want some of the options available are Celtic, British, Scandinavian the list goes on and on.

Defcon Level: the Defcon level or (Defence Condition) you can use the Defcon to change your nations defensive position, as a new nation no one should be attacking you so I would recommend you use Defcon 5.

War/Peace Preference: the War/Peace Preference allows you to choose whether your optional on war or a peaceful nation that has no interest in war, you can change this option every 5 days, note that having your preference set to “I don’t want to be attacked” a.k.a. Peaceful can cause damage to your nations economy.

Nation Religion: choose whatever religion you want your people to follow, however not all will agree with your choice and your citizens may be unhappy with there current Religion you can choose from Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and many more even Voodoo.

I cant remember what else you need to choose when creating your nation other than your place on the Map you can choose anywhere in the world to put your nation, you can zoom in on the map and look at alternative views, if you want to you could start your nation where you live.

This Image shows the Diffrent Views of the Map

Attached Image

This Image shows the Zoom Capability of the Map

Attached Image

As you can see from above what you do with your nation is your choice you can create it anyway you want and most of the information can be altered during the game by clicking on “Edit My Nation”

View My Nation

After you have created your Nation you can select “View My Nation” from the Nation Menu, this page will tell you everything you need to know about your nation starting with a description of your Nation.

Private Nation Message

Your Private Nation Message lets you know what is going on within in your Nation from citizens within your Nation’s point of view, important information will be displayed in Red Text you should try to resolve matters in Red Text as quickly as possible to keep your people happy and prevent Anarchy

Government Information

The Government Information box displays basic information about your Nation, your Improvements, Infrastructure and your Technology Level, It also displays your Resources which I will now explain in more detail.

Resources
Every Nation has 2 primary Resources which are listed as “My Resources” in the Government Information box they are also known as Default Resources and Starting Resources you will always have these 2 Resources.

To get more Resources Nations Trade with each other, open a trade with another Nation simply find there Nation using the Search Box located at the bottom of more pages on Cyber Nations, when you’ve found the person you wish to trade with, click on the name of there Nation this will bring up there Nations Information at the top of the page you should have be able to click Trade and then simply click continue to offer your Trade, (See Example Below)

Attached Image

A Nation can Trade with up to 4 other Nations at one time, If you purchase Improvements for your Nation such as a Harbour or Foreign Ministry you will be able to Trade with another Nation giving you 5 Trade Slots, if 2 Nations from the same Team (colour) both Nations will receive a Bonus of +1 Happiness for there Nations, (If the trade is Cancelled both nations will loose that Bonus)

Here is a full list of the current Resources:

Infrastructure
Infrastructure is one of the most important parts to Cyber Nations, Purchasing Infrastructure increases your population count, and obviously the more citizens you have the more people you have paying taxes, Infrastructure will also improve your Land which will earn you more money through Taxes. As time goes on and your infrastructure level increases the price of Infrastructure will also increase “supply and demand”

Improvements
Nation Improvements are basically Structures or Buildings which improves your nation in different ways depending on the type of Structure/Building. Nation Improvements are expensive the cheapest being $20,000.00 and you can only purchase one Improvement per every 1000 citizens you have in your nation (it’s a good thing that Improvements cannot be damaged or destroyed during War) most Improvements you can stack for (example you can have up to 5 Banks), others you can only have 1 of (for example you can only have 1 Harbour) Here is the full list of Improvements you can Purchase.

Bank - $100,000.00 - Increases population income +7%.
Barracks - $50,000.00 - Increases soldier count +10%, reduces soldier upkeep cost -10%.

Foreign Ministry - $120,000.00 - Increases population income by 5%. Opens +1 extra foreign aid slot. Limit one foreign ministry per nation.
Guerrilla Camp - $20,000.00 - Increases soldier count +35%, reduces soldier upkeep cost -10%, reduces citizen income -8%.
Harbour - $200,000.00 - Increases population income by 1%. Opens +1 extra trade slot. Limit one harbour per nation.

University - $180,000.00 - Increases population income by 8%, reduces technology cost -10%. 1 university per 3 schools. Limit two universities per nation.

Land
Land is another important buy in Cyber Nations after all without land where would all your people, Military and Improvements go. Purchasing land will
increases the size of your borders and decreases population density which makes your citizens happier. Your citizens will usually tell you what they think of the Land space in your “Private Nations Message” the circle surrounding your capital city on the Nation Map shows the amount of Land you have.

Technology
Your Technology in Cyber Nations is represented by your Technology Level which works similar to the way Infrastructure works, however Technology is allot more expensive and unlike Infrastructure or Land you can not sell Technology after its been bought, Technology will also make your citizens happier here are the current figures

Technology = 0 then happiness = -1
Technology > 0 and <= .5 then happiness = +0
Technology > .5 and <= 1 then happiness = +1
Technology > 1 and <= 3 then happiness = +2
Technology > 3 and <= 6 then happiness = +3
Technology > 6 and <= 10 then happiness = +4
Technology > 10 and <= 15 then happiness = +5
Technology > 15 then happiness = + 5 + (Tec purchased * .02) up to level 200 tech

Your Level of Technology will also help your Military during War, when 2 Nations go to War they can Battle with each other, the Outcome of a Battle is Randomly generated however having a higher Technology Level than your opponent gives your soldiers the advantages of better Weapons meaning more kills on the Battlefield which works for both Attacking and Defending Nations during Battles.

Military Information

Nation Strength
You can only Declare War on a Nation within your Nations Strength Range (to stop powerful Nations from attacking new defenceless Nations) your Nation Strength is based on things like how much Land you have, your Military Power and Infrastructure Level.

Efficiency
Efficiency is a rough indicator of how well your nation is doing in the game, however I don’t really understand it, all I know is that things like Wars and Foreign Aid don’t effect your Efficiency rating, and I have been told that older nations will have lower efficiency ratings since the cost of most items in the game increases as you grow stronger.

Military
Your Military is obviously all about the number of Soldiers, Tanks, Cruise Missiles and Nuclear Weapons you have in your Nation, your Military is used in Wars against other Nations, you can purchase soldiers, tanks etc from “Military” under the National Transactions menu.

After purchasing Military you can send some of your Soldiers and Tanks over sea’s by going to “Deploy Military” you can Deploy Military once per Day and only Deployed Units will go into Battle while your at War, its recommended that you always have more Military Defending than you do Deployed.

Population Information

The Population Information box tells you how many people you have in your nation and things like how much income your citizens make.

Population Happiness
Population Happiness is represented by an Emotion, or a smiley some call them. The Happier your citizens that harder they work and more money they take in, Here are some of the things that effect your Populations Happiness.

Population desired religion vs. actual national religion.
Population desired government vs. actual nation government.
Population density – Citizens like room to stretch out.
Size and strength of military – Citizens like to feel protected.
Military casualties – Casualties increase war weariness
Military deployed – Too many deployed troops also increases war weariness
Infrastructure level – Infrastructure helps increase happiness.
Government tax rate – Citizens prefer to pay lower taxes.
Nation age – Citizens prefer the stability of older nations.
And a couple of hidden factors as well

If you cannot tell from the Emotion/Smiley how your citizens feel hold your mouse curser over the Emotion/Smiley and a small box will appear telling you how your nation feels towards your leadership.

Government Financial

Finally the last box to be displayed under “View My Nation” is your Government Financial this box simply tells you how much money you currently have to spend. If viewing your nation by the Extended Display the Government Financial box will also have information like how many transactions you’ve made, how much money you’ve collected in taxes.

Other Features

Here are some of the other features of the game that you should know about, these features can be accessed through the “Nation Menu” on the left side of the screen.

Events
Events are things that happen to your Nation where you the Leader must choose what to do to solve the problem, all Events happen Randomly usually popping up after your have Collected your Taxes all events will have a time period for how long the Event lasts, Below is an example of an Event that I had recently.

Attached Image

You will usually be given 2 Options that you can choose between to solve the problem, after choosing an Option the event will play out and tell you what changes has happened to your Nation after you chose one of the Options (in this case my citizens daily income went up +$5.00)

Foreign Aid
Foreign Aid allows other members of send each other Money, Technology and Soldiers, this can be to help them get started or to help them in times of War, you can only have up to 4 Active or Pending Foreign Aid offers every 10 days, after an Foreign Aid offer has been Accepted it cannot be reversed, cancelled or deleted

My Government Position
Clicking on “My Government Position” will allow you to express your Nations views on certain hypothetical situations, some of the questions and more importantly your answers will effect your Nation, for example see the question below

My Saved Nations
My Saved Nations can be found on the “World Menu” this feature allows you to keep a list of your friends on Cyber Nations, to add a friends Nation to your “My Saved Nations” list simply use the search (located at the bottom of most pages on Cyber Nations) type the name of your Friends Nation, once you have found it click on his Nation and at the top you will have the option to click “Save this Nations” this will put the Nation into you’re my Saved Nations list which you can view at any time.

Playing the Game

Playing Cyber Nations is very easy you can find all the information for your Nation under “View My Nation” which can be found in the “Nations Menu” where you can also edit information about your Nation using “Edit My Nation”

Everything you would want to do to your Nation can be found on Menus at the Left-Side of the screen the first being “My Menu” where you can check your Inbox, send Messages to other Nations and access the Cyber Nations Forums.

Under “My Menu” you have “Nation Menu” where you can View and Edit your Nation, Deploy Military and view who your currently at War with and who you are Trading with.

Next in the List is the “National Transactions” Menu where you do most of your shopping, purchasing Military, Infrastructure, Improvements, Technology and Land. This is also where you can Collect your Taxes and Pay your Bills, which you should be doing once a day.

The next menu is the “World Menu” this is where you can find out what’s going on with other Nations in the Cyber Nations World, you can also use it to see what Resources other Nations have which comes in useful if your looking to Trade for certain Resources.

And Finally the “Other Stuff” Menu which I never use, its basically Advertisement from what I see.

New Nation Advice

My advice to new nations is to build up, get active Trade’s going with other Nations as fast as you can, try to trade with people in your Team (colour) so you can gain the Happiness Bonus. And remember all Resources from trades benefit your Nation in some (way as you can see from the list up there)

Once a day u can Collect Taxes and Pay Bills witch you should try to do every day, after doing that check your “Private Nations Message” and try to do what’s best for your Nation, for the first couple of weeks you should focus on buying Infrastructure, (the more infrastructure you have the more tax you collect)

When you first start and when you first register to the Cyber Nations Forums (separate registration from the site) anyway as a new guy you will be spammed with offers from Alliances asking you to join them, don’t say yes to the first one you see, do some research on the Alliance and see if it’s a wise move for you to join them.

Dark Nations Association

On the subject of Alliances I thought I would tell you about the Dark Nations Association, this is a new Alliance created by myself DeadMetal, We have a Forum for our Alliance here on GameReplays.org which you can take a look at, we welcome any member of GameReplays.org is welcome to join our Alliance, we offer things that allot of Alliances don’t.

If you are interested In making a Nation on Cyber Nations and need any Help please at a Reply to this Topic, If your interested in creating a Nations and joining the Dark Nations Association leave us a message on our Forums which is located Here
