There is a C&C Generals-esque game that has been greenlighted on
Steam titled
War Zone Middle East!
Its pre-alpha has recently ended and the developer,
Arian Studio, is currently working on a 1v1 Skirmish demo for release to the public. The game is running on the Unity engine and its premise is that coalition of nations are now forming to battle for possesion of oil in the Middle East. This after a gigantic economic depression led to the collapse of the traditional currency and global banking system.
For playable factions you have your standard set of Western, Eastern and Middle Eastern nations via the U.N.I., R.J.C. and the G.A.O. respectively. Arian Studios plan to release an Early Access version of the game in Early 2017 that would have a
single faction campaign with 6 extensive missions, 4 player multiplayer mode, and Skirmish with 2 factions. The full version is planned to include, among others, a larger campaign as well as multiplayer support for up to 6-8 players.
Do keep an eye out on War Zone Middle East in the future!
