If you would recall back in January,
Microsoft and
343 Studios had
announced a partnership with
THQ Nordic for plans on releasing physical copies of
Halo Wars 2, for both the Regular and Ultimate Edition worldwide.
The planned physical copies of Halo Wars 2
Just recently however, 343 Industries via a post on the
halowaypoint forum, indicated that this will not be the case and that the physical copies of Halo Wars 2 that will be distributed would be cancelled in the US and possibly worldwide, and shall only be made available and exclusive to Europe.
Earlier this month, you may have heard that we were partnering with our friends at THQ Nordic for worldwide availability of a physical retail version of Halo Wars 2 for Windows 10 PC. Since then, our retail plans have shifted and Microsoft has made the decision to focus the release of the physical retail version to Europe only. THQ Nordic is a great partner and they are working with us to ensure this transition remains smooth for our customers.
Halo Wars 2 for Windows 10 PC will remain available worldwide, digitally, via the Windows Store. We apologize to any customers affected by the change in our retail plans, and thank everyone for the continued support as we look forward to the release of Halo Wars 2 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC on Feb. 21, 2017.

Thus anyone who intends to collect the physical edition of the PC Halo Wars 2 Regular or Ultimate Edition releases would have to import so from Europe.
This comes along with the news that the physical copy of the Ultimate Edition of Halo Wars 2 for the Xbox One
would not include the Xbox Play Anywhere feature. Those PC gamers who had thought of purchasing the physical Xbox One copies of the game so that they can play on the PC with their friends would thus have to unfortunately shelve their plans.
The
Play Anywhere feature will only be included on the digital Xbox One copy of the game, as clarified by 343 Industries. Halo Wars 2 thus will only be available on the Windows Store for regions outside Europe. So what do you make of this latest development, do tell us your thoughts below!
